Message from the founder

Primary health care (PHC) is the cornerstone of the healthcare
system. It is the most basic and easily accessible service. Easier
access in turn, has a knock-on effect on ensuring good health to
communities.

In many rural areas of the Eastern Cape , access to PHC services
is hampered by a myriad of challenges. These include long
distances travelled from communities to Clinics or Hospitals
which affects compliance to chronic medications and hampers
access to healthcare. This also includes access to healthcare
professionals (HCP).

Ingqanga Group aims to bring about a change in some of these
situations, small as it may be. Our aim, amongst other things, is
to bring PHC services closer to society, to make health promotion
a priority and to open platforms whereby patients can be seen by
every kind of HCP that they need, without having to pay.

As a non-profit organization though, it is difficult to achieve all
of this without having enough resources. We therefore would like
to extend a plea to government departments, the private sector
and other NPOs and CBOs as well. We plead with anyone and
everyone who can offer their assistance. We have included our
contact and banking details in this issue.

Lastly, we would like to extend a message of sincere gratitude to
our strategic partners, particularly the DoH and all the HCPs
that attended in helping us facilitate a successful inaugural
health outreach. Makwande
